Celebrate our Independence Day in the Triangle!
Believe
it or not, the most anticipated weekend of the summer is here! After
waiting for over a year, our favorite Triangle 4th of
July events are back and promise to be better than ever! We are
fortunate to live in a community that celebrates everything about our
Independence Day and all the sacrifices that have been made by so many men and
women in the creation of our great nation.
Here
are the most popular events in the Triangle throughout this 4th of
July weekend:
July
3rd
July
3rd Morrisville Family Fun Festival – Town Hall Drive,
Morrisville
· 4:00
pm – 9:00 pm.
· Bring
the whole family for an afternoon and evening of carnival-like entertainment,
local food trucks, prizes, small-business shopping opportunities, live music,
and a laser light show to conclude the festivities.
July
4th
4th of
July Fireworks in Chapel Hill – Southern
Community Park, Chapel Hill
· Event
parking will begin at 7:00 pm and the fireworks are scheduled for 9:20 pm.
· The
Chapel Hill fireworks are back! There won’t be live music this year
but the show itself promises to be well worth the wait!
Reading
of Frederick Douglass' "What, To The Slave, Is the Fourth of July?" – Town
Commons, Carrboro
· 12:00pm.
· Bring
the kids to the annual reading of Frederick Douglass’ famous essay, followed by
a live concert, beginning at 2:00 pm. The event will also be live-streamed
if you’re planning on staying at home!
The
Town of Cary Presents Independence Day Celebration –
Koka Booth Amphitheatre, Cary
· 5:30
pm – 10:00 pm (approximate time), with gates opening at 3:30 pm.
· Enjoy
an evening of music and fireworks while relaxing picnic style at the
Amphitheatre! The music will begin at 5:30, with the firework show
capping off the evening at about 9:25, over Symphony Lake. There
will be plenty of food and beverages for purchase.
Children's
Independence Day Parade – Durham Central Park, Durham
· Beginning
at 9:30 am – 11:30 am.
· Bring
the entire family to the park and kick off your holiday at the annual
Independence Day Children’s Parade! Make sure to arrive early if you
want the kids to be able to decorate their bikes, wagons, etc. before the
parading begins!
Durham
Bulls July 4th Celebration – Durham Bulls Athletic Park, Durham
· The
game begins at 6:05 pm, with Fireworks beginning after the ballgame at approximately
9:15 pm.
· Does it get more American than a baseball game and fireworks? Celebrate
the holiday at the baseball diamond and enjoy a festive firework display
immediately following! If you’re interested in the fireworks but
would prefer to skip the game itself, the gates will open for general admission
following the end of the 7th inning.
72nd
Annual Watts-Hillandale Fourth of July Parade and Celebration –
Oval Drive Park, Durham
· Beginning
at 10:00 am.
· Enjoy
the oldest Independence Day celebration in Durham! The 72-year
tradition kicks off at 10:00, with preparations beginning at
8:00. Enjoy the historic parade, along with the hundreds of flags
hung from the trees to honor our country, all 50 states, and our military.
4th on the Farm Music
Festival – Old Mill Farm, Durham
·
12:00 pm – 8:00 pm, with general admission
being $25 per car.
· Enjoy
a day at the farm with live music, beer, wine, food, BBQ, and
animals! Purchasing tickets in advance is strongly encouraged and
each paid admission is good for one of three 2-hour time slots, beginning at
12:00, 3:00, or 6:00. Everyone in attendance will also be provided
with feed for the animals and sparklers.
Raleigh
4th of July Fireworks – Carter-Finley Stadium and PNC Arena
Complex, Raleigh
·
9:30 pm to 10:00 pm (the fireworks are
expected to last 20-22 minutes).
· Pack
a late-night picnic and head to the PNC Arena for the anticipated Raleigh
fireworks! The gates will be opening at 6:00 pm for free
parking.
Star Spangled Block Party –
Brier Creek Commons, Raleigh
· Beginning
at 8:00 pm.
· Get
to the block party and enjoy a live DJ from 8:00 – 9:00, with the area’s
largest firework display, immediately following (after dark)! There
will also be giveaways throughout the night.
NC State Capitol July 4th
Celebration – The NC State Capitol, Raleigh
· 12:00pm
– 3:00pm.
· A
historic, and free, event presented by the capitol. Witness a
reading of the declaration of independence, a wreath-laying, by the Sons of the
American Revolution, in front of the George Washington monument, and live music
throughout. There will also be free, self-guided tours of the
capitol for families to take advantage of!
Throughout
the Weekend
July
4th Weekend Laser Light Show – Durham County
Memorial Stadium, Durham
· Saturday,
July 3rd, and Sunday, July 4th at
9:00pm.
· Enjoy
a festive laser light show, in the comfort of your car! This
drive-in-style show will also feature accompanying music that can be listened
to through your radio. While the event is free, pre-registration is
required due to capacity limits.
42nd Annual EnoFest –
West Point on the Eno, Durham
· Saturday,
July 3rd, and Sunday, July 4th from
10:00 am – 6:00 pm. Tickets for adults are $25 per day or $40 for
the weekend.
· Quite
possibly the most anticipated 4th of
July event throughout the Triangle each year! Enjoy an eventful
weekend on the river with a continuous lineup of live music (on 4 different
stages!), a craft show, an abundance of food and drinks, and so much more!
Life
in the Triangle is officially starting to feel back to normal and this holiday
weekend will be the perfect opportunity to reconnect with loved ones and the
community! Whether you celebrate throughout the area, or you choose
