Believe it or not, the most anticipated weekend of the summer is here!  After waiting for over a year, our favorite Triangle 4th of July events are back and promise to be better than ever!  We are fortunate to live in a community that celebrates everything about our Independence Day and all the sacrifices that have been made by so many men and women in the creation of our great nation.

Here are the most popular events in the Triangle throughout this 4th of July weekend:

July 3rd

July 3rd Morrisville Family Fun Festival – Town Hall Drive, Morrisville

·        4:00 pm – 9:00 pm.

·        Bring the whole family for an afternoon and evening of carnival-like entertainment, local food trucks, prizes, small-business shopping opportunities, live music, and a laser light show to conclude the festivities.

July 4th

4th of July Fireworks in Chapel Hill – Southern Community Park, Chapel Hill

·        Event parking will begin at 7:00 pm and the fireworks are scheduled for 9:20 pm.

·        The Chapel Hill fireworks are back!  There won’t be live music this year but the show itself promises to be well worth the wait!

Reading of Frederick Douglass' "What, To The Slave, Is the Fourth of July?" –    Town Commons, Carrboro

·        12:00pm.

·       Bring the kids to the annual reading of Frederick Douglass’ famous essay, followed by a live concert, beginning at 2:00 pm.  The event will also be live-streamed if you’re planning on staying at home!

The Town of Cary Presents Independence Day Celebration – Koka Booth Amphitheatre, Cary

·        5:30 pm – 10:00 pm (approximate time), with gates opening at 3:30 pm.

·        Enjoy an evening of music and fireworks while relaxing picnic style at the Amphitheatre!  The music will begin at 5:30, with the firework show capping off the evening at about 9:25, over Symphony Lake.  There will be plenty of food and beverages for purchase.

Children's Independence Day Parade – Durham Central Park, Durham

·        Beginning at 9:30 am – 11:30 am.

·       Bring the entire family to the park and kick off your holiday at the annual Independence Day Children’s Parade!  Make sure to arrive early if you want the kids to be able to decorate their bikes, wagons, etc. before the parading begins!

Durham Bulls July 4th Celebration – Durham Bulls Athletic Park, Durham

·        The game begins at 6:05 pm, with Fireworks beginning after the ballgame at approximately 9:15 pm.

·        Does it get more American than a baseball game and fireworks?  Celebrate the holiday at the baseball diamond and enjoy a festive firework display immediately following!  If you’re interested in the fireworks but would prefer to skip the game itself, the gates will open for general admission following the end of the 7th inning.

72nd Annual Watts-Hillandale Fourth of July Parade and Celebration – Oval Drive Park, Durham

·        Beginning at 10:00 am.

Throughout the Weekend

July 4th Weekend Laser Light Show – Durham County Memorial Stadium, Durham

Life in the Triangle is officially starting to feel back to normal and this holiday weekend will be the perfect opportunity to reconnect with loved ones and the community!  Whether you celebrate throughout the area, or you choose a more intimate celebration at home, we wish you a happy Independence Day and hope your family is able to make memories to last the years that lie ahead!
