Farmers Markets Around the Triangle
If you’re looking for fresh, locally-sourced produce and other goods, look no further that the farmers markets near Chapel Hill and Durham, North Carolina. Our area is RIPE with local farmer’s supporting our communities & I love to frequent the markets on weekends for fresh produce and delicious locally sourced foods. From artisanal cheeses to handmade crafts, these markets offer a wide variety of products that reflect the unique character and flavor of the area. Here’s a small list of some of the best farmer’s markets in our communities!
Durham Farmers’ Market - Located in the Pavilion at Durham Central Park; December - March 10am - 12pm Saturdays; April - November 8am - 12pm Saturdays; Mid-week market April - November 3-6pm Wednesdays; Plus holiday markets
The Durham Farmers’ Market is one of the most popular markets in the Triangle, offering a wide variety of fresh produce, meats, cheeses and more. You’ll find everything from heirloom tomatoes to artisanal breads, and the vendors are always happy to talk about their products and share recipes and cooking tips.
Carrboro Farmers’ Market - Carrboro Town Commons; November to March 9am-12pm Saturdays; March to October 7am - 12pm Saturdays; April through week before Thanksgiving 3pm - 6pm Wednesdays
The Carrboro Farmers’ Market is another great option for those looking for fresh, locally-sourced products. This market features over 75 vendors selling everything from seasonal produce to handmade crafts and a variety of food trucks and live music, making it a great spot to spend a Saturday morning or afternoon. The market is open year-round.
Chapel Hill Farmers’ Market - University Place; Winter Saturdays 9am - 12pm; Spring, Summer, Fall April - October Tuesdays 3pm - 6pm and Saturday 8am -12pm.
The Chapel Hill Farmers’ Market is a smaller market than some of the others on this list, but it still offers a great selection of fresh produce, meats and other products This market is particularly known for its variety of mushrooms, but you’ll also find a variety of seasonal fruits and vegetables, as well as locally-raised meats. All of the farmers and artisans live within 60 miles of Chapel Hill so this is all hyper local.
South Durham Farmers’ Market - Greenwood Commons Shopping Center; April - October 8am - 11am Saturdays, November - March 9am - 12pm Saturdays; Special pre-holiday market
The South Durham Farmers’ Market is a newer addition to the local farmers market scene, but it’s quickly gaining popularity for its great selection of fresh produce, meats, and other products. You’ll find a variety of vendors here selling everything from grass-fed beef to artisanal soaps and candles. Qualified farmers, prepared food artisans, or craftspeople who reside and grow their products within a 50-mile radius of the market.
Western Wake Farmers’ Market - 280 Town Hall Drive, Morrisville; April - November 8am - 12pm Saturdays; December - March 9:30am - 12pm Saturdays;
The Western Wake Farmers’ Market is located just outside of the Chapel Hill and Durham area, but it’s still worth checking out if you’re in the area. This market features over 50 vendors selling a variety of fresh produce and other products. You’ll also find a variety of food trucks and live music. This is another year-round market that is a great way to spend a Saturday.
State Farmers Market - 1201 Agriculture St, Raleigh; Mon - Sat 5am - 7pm, Sunday 8am - 6pm
The State Farmers Market is the grand-daddy of them all with so much more than fresh vegetables. Considered one of the best modern markets, visitors can enjoy 75 acres of indoor and outdoor specialty shops, restaurants and a garden center featuring fruits, vegetables, meats, gifts and products from around the state.
