The Triangle and surrounding areas are host to many farmers markets that do their best to ensure that the local farmers have a market to sell their goods. This is a great local economy stimulator as the money is spent where people live and the farmers are then able to put that money back into the economy and produce more food and more for the local market.

At the Chapel Hill Farmers Market at University Place, you’ll find a variety of vegetables, fruits, herbs, plants, flowers, eggs, meat, poultry, cakes, pies, cookies, bread, muffins, pastries, chocolate, candy, jam, jelly, pickles, honey, tea, coffee, beer, prepared foods and more, all hand grown and produced within 60 miles of Chapel Hill. Find the Chapel Hill Farmers Market at 201 S Estes Dr, Chapel Hill Saturdays 8am - 12pm and Tuesdays 3pm - 6pm. Learn more here.

The Carrboro Farmers Market is run by the farmers and artisans that produce goods within 50 miles of the market. The actual owner of each farm or business is present at the market each week, so it is truly as local as it gets. This market is nationally recognized and is home to many of the most talented growers and artisans in the region. At 301 W Main St in Carrboro, you’ll find the market on Saturdays 7am - 12pm and Wednesdays 3pm - 6pm. Learn more here.

As a “producer-only” market, where the products are grown, baked, tended to or preserved by the farms that bring them to the market, the Fearrington Farmers Market benefits all involved. They support small local growers, ranchers and bakers by providing a direct outlet for their products. It also encourages sustainable farming practices which preserves and enhances the quality of the soil as well as helping the local economy and bringing high quality products to consumers at a reasonable price. Find the Fearrington Farmers Market on East Camden on Tuesdays from 4-6pm and learn more here.

The vendors of the South Durham Farmers Market are qualified farmers, prepared food artisans or craftspeople that reside and grow or create their products within a 50 mile radius of the market location. Their farmers and vendors offer some of the best produce, meats and other goods in the area. You can find the market in the Greenwood Commons Shopping Center at 5410 NC Highway 55 in Durham on Saturdays 8am - 12 pm and learn more here.

In downtown Hillsborough, the Eno River Farmers Market offers farm fresh vegetables and fruit, cheese, pasture raised meat and eggs, wood fire baked goods, prepared foods and crafts made by local growers and producers. The vendors are selected with care based on the quality and diversity of their offerings. They must also be local, within 60 miles of Hillsborough for traditional foods and within North Carolina for specialty items like apples and peaches, as well as being the original producers of their products. They also have live music, master gardeners, arts and crafts activities, chef demonstrations and more. Find them at 144 E Margaret Lane in Hillsborough on Saturdays from 8am - 12pm year round or online here.
