The NC State Fair is Here!

It's that time again when the fair has come to town. Running October 13th - October 23rd there is plenty to do, see and eat for everyone. Most days the gates are open 9am - 11pm and until midnight on Fridays & Saturdays. 

There are a few special days this year that honor or celebrate special groups of people. 

• Sunday October 16th is accessABILITY Day presented by Bandwidth. The fair team has been brainstorming for years of how to make the fair more inclusive for Carolinians of all abilities and this year they've found a way. From 9am - 1pm rides and games will operate without lights or sounds; vendors will operate with no lights or music at their booths, and the PA system will only be used for lost visitor announcements. All day there will be a "Chill Out Zone" available in the Graham Building with low lighting and soft music for those that need a break from the outdoor atmosphere and more! 
• Tuesday October 18th is Senior Citizen's Day when seniors 65+ get free admission to the fair. Starting at 9am while supplies last, Bojangles' biscuits and coffee will be served on the Dorton Patio.
• Wednesday October 19th is Military Day and will feature a Tractor Parade, and multiple times to catch the 440th Army Band on the Waterfall Stage throughout the day along with a daily Military discount.
• Thursday October 20th you can bring 6 cans of food and get in to the fair free to support Smithfield Foods Hunger Relief Day!

As for attractions, the fair has it all! Check out the Village of Yesteryear with antique farm machinery and the Got To Be NC agriculture, chock full of NC producers. You can see the flower and garden show and the Field of Dreams where children can make connections between the food they see growing and the food on their plates. Check out the Folk Festival as well as the Homegrown Music Festival and so much more! Rides and games, livestock competitions and horse shows, there is truly something for everyone. 

New in 2022 is an array of new food options that have us salivating just reading about them:

• Deep Fried Bacon Mac-n-Cheese Tacos if you need a deep fried indulgence. - Bubba's Bacon
• Maybe a Frozen Banana Pudding Taco is more your style. - Chick-N-Que 
• Find a Smokin' Bovine Roll with burth end brisket at Fat Boys BBQ
• Fun Time Foods is serving a Chicken Pot Pie Biscuit 
• Enjoy the sweet and savory with a Cornbread & Chili Savory Funnel Cake at Gobblin' Gourmet
• Fall In A Cup Green Apple Loaded Slushie at Moose Joose Slushie
• Up for a Dill Pickle Pizza at Rudy's? 
• Maybe a Chicken Bacon Ranch Waffle Stick you can find at Waffle Chix

There will be fireworks nightly over the pond at 9:45pm and so much more!
